Location Scouting :: Abingdon, IL

Location Scouting

One of my absolute favorite things to do as a wedding photographer is to take some time in advance of a wedding to head over to the location where the ceremony and reception will be held to test lighting, get familiar with the property, and scout out the nearby area to see what’s around to serve as backdrops, etc for our formal images.  As much as I’m a laid-back, go with the flow type person, when it comes to my clients I like to be as mentally prepared as possible for what we may come across on a wedding day.

 Considering I had yet to visit Abingdon, IL, a town just south of us here in Galesburg where I have a wedding in just a few weeks, I was eyes wide open on my drive down to this cute little town.  It’s not a large town, but it has the sort of character to it that I just love.  The drive to Abingdon today was chock full of moody skies, waving stalks of corn, and all the chippy paint I dream of.  While I have about a hundred more images I could share from my short time here, here is just a taste.

Plenty more to come soon on Mackenzie + Austin’s Wedding Day!

Many thanks to The Christian Church of Abingdon for touring me around this afternoon.  Looking forward to more photos here soon!
